1. Promoter
1.1 The promoter of this competition is Motorola Mobility LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lenovo (“the Promoter”).
1.2 This competition is run in association with Pepkor Holdings Limited (“Pepkor”) and the +more Rewards programme.
1.3 Pepkor Holdings Limited, +more Rewards, Shoprite Checkers (Pty) Ltd, Incredible Connection, HiFi Corp, Ackermans and PEP (collectively, the “Associated Parties”) are not the organisers, promoters, or sponsors of this competition and shall bear no responsibility or liability whatsoever arising from this competition.
2. Competition Period
2.1 The competition will run from 25 October 2025 to 27 December 2025 (“the Competition Period”).
2.2 Entries received outside of the Competition Period will not be valid and shall be automatically disqualified.
3. Eligibility
3.1 The competition is open to natural persons who:
- are 18 years or older;
- are South African citizens or permanent residents with a valid South African ID; and
- purchase a qualifying Motorola smartphone from Ackermans, PEP, Incredible Connection or HiFi Corp within the Competition Period.
3.2 Employees, directors, members, partners, agents or consultants of the Promoter, Pepkor, +more Rewards, Associated Parties, or any of their immediate families are not eligible to enter.
4. Entry Mechanism
4.1 To enter, qualifying participants must:
- Purchase any Motorola smartphone during the Competition Period at the above participating retailers.
- Be a registered +more Rewards cardholder, or sign up during purchase.
- Scan the official QR code linking to https://hellomoto.co.za/ and complete the entry form, including:
- the Motorola smartphone serial number,
- a picture of the receipt of purchase, and
- their personal details.
4.2 Entries must be accurate and complete. Incomplete, illegible, or false entries will not be considered.
5. Prize and Draw Process
5.1 The prize consists of R225,000 worth of Checkers grocery vouchers distributed over 9 weeks.
- Each week (Sunday to Saturday), 25 winners will be drawn to receive a R1,000 Checkers grocery voucher.
- The draw will take place within the third week (working days) following the purchase, as proper verification checks must be conducted. Public holidays and religious holidays may cause delays in the draw process.
5.2 The vouchers:
- Will be distributed electronically via Computicket;
- Are not transferable, negotiable, or redeemable for cash;
- May only be redeemed as per the terms set out by Shoprite Checkers (Pty) Ltd.
5.3 Winners will be selected by way of a random draw conducted via Excel by the Promoter’s appointed advertising agency. A South African attorney will oversee the draw process to ensure fairness.
5.4 Winners will be notified via the contact details supplied on their entry form. Should a winner not respond within 7 (seven) working days, the prize may be forfeited and redrawn at the sole discretion of the Promoter.
6. Virtual Voucher Terms and Conditions
6.1 The virtual vouchers can be redeemed immediately once received.
6.2 Please ensure that recipient cellphone numbers are entered correctly. Once a voucher has been sent, it cannot be recalled.
6.3 The virtual voucher will be sent directly to the recipient via SMS. Participants must notify recipients to expect the SMS to avoid confusion with spam.
Voucher Use:
- The voucher can be used at any Checkers, Shoprite, or Usave store nationwide.
- This voucher can only be redeemed in-store and not online.
- The voucher is delivered by SMS to the recipient’s cellphone within one hour of issue.
- The SMS must be kept until the voucher has been redeemed.
- Vouchers can be redeemed only once.
- Vouchers cannot be redeemed at Usave mobile stores, MediRite Pharmacies, or at Money Market counters.
- No change will be given if the value of the purchase is less than the value of the voucher.
- If not fully used in one transaction, the remaining value will be loaded onto a gift card in-store.
- Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash.
- Lost or stolen vouchers will not be reimbursed.
- Vouchers are valid for 3 years from date of purchase.
7. Data Protection and Privacy
7.1 All personal information is collected and processed
strictly in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and the Promoter’s Privacy Policy available at:
https://www.motorola.sa/legal/privacy-policy.
7.2 Personal information will only be used for the purposes of:
- verifying the participant’s purchase;
- administering entry into the competition; and
- contacting winners
7.3 Personal information will not be sold, shared, or distributed to third parties, save where required by law or to fulfil the above purposes.
8. Disqualification
8.1 The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entry if:
- fraudulent, dishonest, misleading, or incomplete information is submitted;
- the participant fails to comply with these Terms and Conditions; or
- tampering, abuse, or manipulation of the entry process is suspected.
8.2 Disqualified participants shall not be entitled to claim any prize.
9. Liability Disclaimer
9.1 The Promoter, Pepkor, +more Rewards, Shoprite Checkers, Associated Parties, and their directors, officers, employees, or agents shall not be liable for:
- any lost, late, misdirected, incorrect, or incomplete entries;
- technical errors, malfunctions, or interruptions affecting the entry or prize process;
- any vouchers that are unclaimed, undelivered, deleted, blocked, delayed, or otherwise not received by the winner due to circumstances beyond the Promoter’s control; or
- any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from participation in the competition or use of the prize.
9.2 By entering the competition, participants indemnify and hold harmless the Promoter, Pepkor, +more Rewards, Shoprite Checkers, and Associated Parties from any claims, losses, damages, or liabilities arising from or related to this competition.
10. General
10.1 The Promoter reserves the right to:
- amend, suspend, or cancel the competition at any time without notice;
- substitute the prize with a prize of equal or greater value should circumstances beyond its control necessitate.
10.2 The Promoter’s decision on all matters relating to the competition is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
10.3 Entry into the competition constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
10.4 This competition is conducted in compliance with the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 and the Lotteries Act, 57 of 1997 (where applicable).
10.5 These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and any disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
